CORTLANDT, N.Y. – The Hudson River EagleFest draws people from all over Westchester every year. Check out the EagleFest  at several participating parks along the Hudson River, from Peekskill’s Riverfront Green Park, George’s Island Park in Montrose, to Croton Point Park in Croton. Events begin at 9 a.m. If you’re not interested in the outdoors this weekend, there are family-oriented yoga classes and storytellers to fill your afternoons.

Friday, Feb. 3
Family Fun Night
The Furnace Woods PTA will sponsor a Family Fun Night at Premier Athletic Club in Montrose, beginning at 7 p.m. Activities include an indoor pool, gym and instructor to teach a hip-hop dance class. Admission is $5, proceeds benefit the Furnace Woods PTA. Premier Athletic Club is located at 2127 Albany Post Road, Montrose.

Mommy and Me Yoga Bring your newborn baby to crawling age babies and bond through yoga postures to strengthen your mind and body. This is a great opportunity to meet other moms with little ones. Admission is $18 to drop in, or $90 for a five class card. This class is taught by Laughing Hearts Yoga, at Hudson Yoga, 5 Old Post Road, Croton. Saturday, Feb. 4
Hudson River EagleFest
Celebrate the bald eagle on the Hudson River with the biggest bird-centric event in Northern Westchester. This event is coordinated by Teatown Lake Reservation. A variety of heated tents and theaters will present shows like, “Close Encounters with Wintering Eagles and Owls,” beginning at 9 a.m. Tours of bird habitats begin at Croton Point Park and stop at the Croton Boat Ramp at Croton-Harmon Train Station. Other area parks will also be participating, such as George’s Island Park in Montrose, and Riverfront Green Park in Peekskill. Visit the EagleFest website for more information.

Beautiful Story Weaving with Wamoro Njenga Return to the African village for laughs and lessons with storyteller Wamoro Njenga. Njenga’s storytelling recreates the daily life of her homeland, through a passionate performance of folktales. Born and raised in Africa, the children’s book author uses authentic percussion, chants, rhythmic responses, dance movement, and participatory cues and calls to transport kids and their families to the heart of the village. The event begins at 2 p.m. and it open to the public, at the Croton Free Library, located at 171 Cleveland Drive, Croton.

The Butter Battle and “Stone Soup” The Children's Theatre Company presents “A Butter Battle Tale” and “Stone Soup,” as a double musical treat. Both stories are based on children’s books, “A Butter Battle Tale,” is based on the Dr. Seuss book. Performances will take place at the Ford Theatre in Peekskill, at 3 p.m. Admission is $10 per person, and can be purchased ahead of time. The Ford Theatre is located at 1031 Elm St., Peekskill. Rivertowns Music Festival Students from Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow, Briarcliff Manor, Ossining and Croton are taking part in the fifth annual Rivertowns Music Festival. A free concert will be given at the Croton-Harmon High School Auditorium at 2 p.m.

Sunday, Feb. 5
Chapel of the Four Chaplains Ceremony
This annual ceremony honors four U.S. Army chaplains who were aboard the US troopship, Dorchester, in February, 1943 when it was torpedoed and sunk. The chaplains handed out life vests and calmed the sailors aboard their dying ship. When the chaplains ran out of life vests to hand out, they gave up their own life vests. Their bravery is honored each year, at 2 p.m., at the Yorktown American Legion Hall, located at 235 Veterans Road, Yorktown Heights. Breast Cancer Holistic Healing Yoga Free yoga classes for those diagnosed with breast cancer, or survivors of breast cancer.
